AIxIA 2021

The 20th International Conference of the Italian Association for Artificial Intelligence (AIxIA 2021) is organized by AIxIA (Associazione Italiana per l’Intelligenza Artificiale), which is a non-profit scientific society founded in 1988 and devoted to the promotion of Artificial Intelligence. The society aims to increase the public awareness of AI, encourage the teaching of it and promote research in the field.

This website describes this edition of the Conference which is going to be held online (originally planned to be held in Milano) on November 29-30, 2021 (Workshops) and December 1-3, 2021 (Main Conference).

The growth of research and interests about AI today requires that specific communities of contributors could meet and face together in order to focus on specific fields of work. Due to the the growing number of focused activities represents the richness of the entire AI community, AIxIA 2021 hosts a set of dedicated workshops which will be held on the two days before the starting of the Main Conference on November 29 and 30, 2021.

Letter from the AIxIA President

Dear Members,

this year too, our annual conference will take place entirely in virtual mode. We thought a lot before making this decision, because this is an important moment for the Association and the opportunity to meet in person constitutes a large part of its value. We know that non-verbal communication constitutes by far the most important percentage of the messages we exchange and this also applies to the conference in all its manifestations. Nonetheless, prudence made us lean towards an online event this year as well.

Unlike last year, this year we asked you for a contribution to participate in the event. It is a smaller fee than we are used to attending face-to-face events, but it constitutes a source of income necessary to pay for conference services, prizes, student contributions and other activities that from time to time constitute opportunities for the dissemination of knowledge on Artificial Intelligence in line with our mission.

This is the last year I attend our annual event as President. The board, the positions within it and the auditors roles are expiring, and the Assembly will also have the task of electing the new members of the corporate bodies.

Voting will take place online, after the Assembly meeting using the Eligo platform. I wish from now on the new management and the new president to be able to do better than we have been able to achieve. I count on the contribution of all the partners to increase the activity of AIxIA and bring that value to society and to the planet that science can generate.

Lettera dal Presidente AIxIA

Care socie e cari soci,

anche quest’anno la nostra conferenza annuale si svolgerà tutta in modalità virtuale. Abbiamo riflettuto molto prima di prendere questa decisione, perché questo è un momento importante per l’associazione e la possibilità di trovarsi di persona ne costituisce gran parte del valore. Sappiamo che la comunicazione non verbale costituisce la percentuale di gran lunga più importante dei messaggi che ci scambiamo e questo vale anche per la conferenza in tutte le sue manifestazioni.

Ciò nonostante, la prudenza ci ha fatto propendere, anche quest’anno, per un evento on line.

A differenza dell’anno scorso, quest’anno vi abbiamo chiesto un contributo per la partecipazione all’evento. E’ una quota più piccola rispetto a quella a cui siamo abituati per partecipare agli eventi in presenza, ma costituisce una fonte di introitonecessaria per pagare i servizi della conferenza, i premi, i contributi agli studenti e le altre attività che di volta in voltacostituiscono opportunità di diffusione della conoscenza sull’Intelligenza Artificiale in coerenza con la nostra missione.

Questo è l’ultimo anno in cui presenzio il nostro evento annuale in qualità di presidente. Il direttivo, le cariche al suo interno e i revisori dei conti sono in scadenza e l’assemblea avrà anche il compito di eleggere i nuovi componenti degli organi sociali. La votazione si svolgerà on line, dopo l’assemblea utilizzando la piattaforma Eligo.

Auguro fin d’ora al nuovo direttivo e al nuovo presidente di riuscire a far meglio di quanto noi siamo stati in grado di realizzaree conto sul contributo di tutti i soci per incrementare l’attività di AIxIA e portare quel valore alla società e al pianeta che lascienza può generare.
